Well, I hope this qualifies as a Technique. I am using it to do the invitations I put on the beginning of the wedding videos. I wanted to let you all know of something I am doing with REX Titler. I was just playing around here, but it turned out so nice, one of my clients wants it for her invite. It is MUCH nicer than scrolling. I'll do an example - SET UP: I had an invitation which was made out of that "translucent" paper, so the wording was on the front, but inside (barely seen thru the front) were floral images in a soft pastel. The font was close to Amazone (?? that scripty font, check it out) and in a medium purple tone. I did extreem CU's on the images inside the card, and then shot the invite on a copystand - but I swiveled the camera, so the image looked like it was going "around in a circle" motion - but only for a short arc of the circle. I slo-mo'ed it to 20% using Speed Cont. I used a medium purple tone for the font and put a nice darker grey shadow under it - and embossed it "outer" & set parameters to 1 (gave it a slight 3D effect but hardly overdone. Then, I took part of the invite, and isolated the wording, and had the first line slide one way, blur disolves, second & third lines do something... you get the idea. Under all this is the images and the swiveled invite avi with really long disolves between them. I saw someone do this with AE. Granted, you get X-Y-Z axis with that, and can have some fabulous effects, but it is NOT impossable to do some REALLY nice stuff with Rex Ttitler, provided you are clever and imaginative.
