Condenser mics need power. Either phantom power (9 - 52 volts with 48v the standard provided by most mixers) or mic plugin power (usually 1.5 - 9 volts) provided by many recording devices such as miniDiscs and camcorders. If you use an XLR adapter, it will not "pass-through" the plugin power. Thus, your battery powered Senn works with or without the adapter. The lapel mic would work if plugged either into the camcorder or its transmitter/reciever which provides the plugin power. I'd try plugging in the transmitter/reciever with the 1/8" jack into the XLR adapter and see if it works. Hope this helps, Rick
