When there is a lot of motion the edges of the moving objects leave sort of a ghosting. The original clips look fine and are very clear at the edges of moving objects. I've used all the settings mentioned in the Canopus FAQ, but there seems to be more in AE than listed in the FAQ. Here's what I have used. I'd like any suggestions you may have to clear up my moving edges. Composition Settings: 720X480 NTSC DV,720X480 Pixel Aspect Ratio:D1/DV NTSC Resolution: Full Frame Rate: 29.97 Then when I go Compostion>Make Movie Render Queue dialog box 1. Render Settings dropdown box select "Best Settings" Quality:Best Resolution: Full Proxy Use: Use no proxies Effects:Current settings Frame blending: on for checked layers Field render: off Motion blur: on for checked layers Use shutter angle 180 Use comp frame rate (29.97) 2. Output module dropdown box select "Custom" Format: Video for Windows check Video output Canopus DVRex Compressor Stretch: unchecked Crop: unchecked check Audio output 44.1kHz, 16 bit, stereo I tried with field render of lower field first, but that looked the same. I've also used "current settings" for Render settings above and Output module settings of "lossless" Any suggestions? Your settings look just like the settings I use except for the frame blending (but that only applies to layers that you have it checked for in AE) which I only use when I timestretch a clip. You could try to uncheck those two options. I'm also using "lower field first" rendering Regards, Dan Abit VP6 - dual PIII 1GHz - 4x256 MB RAM - Xplode - DVStormRT - 4x45GB Maxtor 7200RPM - Soundblaster Live! 5.1 (drivers only) - Canon XL-1 - Win2000+SP1 - Adobe Premiere 6 ================================================================================ Subject: Re: AE render settings Name: Don Lamprecht Date: Apr-24-01 10:57am IP: 209.193.50.78 Email: dlamprecht@compuserve.com Link: http://dlamp.com/rex/rextips.htm Thanks Mark and Dan. I had draft quality, frame blending unchecked, motion blur unchecked for all layers on the timeline. I'm checking both frame blending and motion blur and using best quality for all layers now. Ouch, the render time went up. It's probably the draft quality that was causing the problem, and not motion blur or frame blending. I'll experiment some more with those three factors. What a nice program, but too many choices for the newbies. Best quality, frame blending and motion blur checked for all layers. 2. Best quality, frame blending and motion blur both unchecked. 3. Uncompressed video format selection in render queue. The avi file created in option 3 would not open in RexEdit so I opened it in Premiere timeline and exported a movie using Canopus DV compesssor. I assume this is the way to get the uncompressed file compressed. Any more suggestions? I'd really like to start using AE for a few effects, but the resulting video quality is not up to snuff for high action stuff. The answer was there. My face is red - the link is on my RexTips page! The key was to file>interpret and select lower frame first. I did all this in the render settings, but I guess it needs doing when the footage is brought into the project window. Motion is clear now. Thanks everyone for the help.
